Today in class we continued to work on our project. For me I enjoyed class today a lot more than I did yesterday. It was nice to have quiet time to work alone. I got 6 out of 8 words done and enjoyed the reading that I completed. In the future I think I just need to find a better group for me.

Today we started a new project and I am not too excited about it. My job for this assignment is to find words that serve a strong purpose in the writing and I found it really hard to focus. I read through three pages but was unable to process what I had read. I also am not confident in some of my group members and the energy in my group is very passive. It really brought down my mood because the energy with some of my group mates was very negative.

On Wednesday we read a piece of literature by Judith Ortiz Cofer. The writing was called The Myth of the Latin Woman and discusses the effects of stereotypes surrounding woman with Latin heritage. I really enjoyed reading this and found it really impactful. I wasn’t aware of all the stereotypes that these woman face and it is truly awful. The over sexualization and objectification of this woman is far worse than what white woman are subjected to.

On Tuesday we continued to go through project presentations for Latin American countries. We had to take notes about things we found interesting and questions that we had. I really appreciated having to do this because I felt like I learned more. It’s easier for me to learn when it’s hands on and writing works really well for me. I found that coming up with questions was difficult though.

Today we turned in our projects on Latin American countries. We didn’t get to finish going through them but I wish that we did. I’m all honesty I was a little disappointed in the lack of information provided in some of the power points. I don’t feel like I learned very much but I was looking forward to that aspect of it. I am however proud of my project and I am interested in seeing my grade on it.

On Friday I was able to get about 4 slides in on my project about Colombia. Researching about Colombia’s natural world was really fascinating to me. I have always loved nature and animals. Learning about all of the ecological diversity in Colombia took me on a deep rabbit hole of research. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t complete more slides, leaving me with work for the weekend but over all I have really enjoyed this project.

On Thursday in class I was introduced to the new project about Latin American culture. I got assigned Colombia and was really excited about the assignment. I am really interested in cultural anthropology and love to learn new things that involve my interests. I was very excited to start the project on Thursday.
